Custom Hierarchies

Company Administrators can define and maintain one or more hierarchies for billing analysis.*

A hierarchy is a graphic representation of a company's structure in the form of a tree. Units of the organization (called nodes) expand out from largest to smallest, from a central root to various branches, and then to individual leaves.

A custom hierarchy is one in which specific values are assigned above and between the billing hierarchy within eBill. This allows you to allocate billing charges to cost centers that mirror a company's actual organization or reporting need. Creating a custom hierarchy enables the generation of billing data summary reports for the current billing period, and allows the custom hierarchy to be leveraged in the Bill Analysis reports for current and historical billing periods.

You can define your custom hierarchies based on predefined templates provided.

You can:

  • Define and maintain hierarchies for a Company Administrator
  • Transfer ownership of the hierarchy to other Company Administrators

All hierarchies are based on templates which determine the hierarchy structure. The template determines the allowed relationships between the hierarchy nodes. For example:

  • A city node cannot be positioned above a state node in the geographical hierarchy.

Once the hierarchy is ready, you can associate some or all billing accounts and wireless numbers with the hierarchy. eBill then offers the option to summarize the billing information for these billing accounts and wireless numbers on the hierarchy for the current foundation account cycle available.

Note: *Your eBill role and permissions determine the information you see and the activities you can perform.
