AT&T Mobile Share Advantage FAQ

What are Data Packs and when would you need them?

With AT&T Mobile Share AdvantageSM plans for business, there are no overage charges1. Once you have used all of your monthly high-speed data amounts, such as your monthly plan data, any available Rollover Data® or other allotments you may have, all of your data usage will be slowed down to a max of 128 Kbps (which is approximately 2G speeds) for the remainder of the bill cycle. During that period, you will have basic data use for viewing a web page or checking email, but audio and video streaming, picture and video messaging, apps and services, as well as other data usage, including usage of data that is sponsored, will be impacted and may not be fully functional.

We now offer optional Data Packs1 for business customers with Mobile Share Advantage plans for business. Five different Data Packs are available for purchase– with data amounts ranging from 1GB to 10GB – all of which offer you the flexibility to obtain an additional high-speed data allotment for use in a particular month, whether you merely anticipate needing more high-speed data that month or your data speeds have been slowed because you exceeded your available monthly high-speed data amounts. The high-speed data amount provided with each Data Pack is consumed first (before any monthly plan data and/or Rollover Data) and does not roll over.

What if I do not want my Corporate Responsibility User (CRU) lines of service to be slowed to a maximum of 128 Kbps when my high-speed data amounts are exceeded?

If you anticipate using a lot of data in a particular month, you can add an optional Data Pack prior to consuming all of your plan’s available monthly high-speed data allotments (such as your monthly plan data and any available Rollover Data), which will provide you with an additional high-speed data amount for use that month. If, on the other hand, all data usage under your plan has already been slowed because your CRUs consumed all of your plan’s available high speed data allotments, you can add a Data Pack at that time, which will give your CRUs a high-speed data amount to use during the remainder of the month.

Data Packs are a great way to purchase additional high-speed data. Is there a maximum number of Data Packs I can purchase in a particular month?

Yes - you can purchase up to two of each of the four Data Packs per month per plan. If more high-speed data is needed, you should consider migrating to one of the Mobile Share Advantage plans for business with a larger monthly data allowance.

If I add a Data Pack before consuming all of my available monthly high-speed data allotments, what will happen to such remaining data allotments?

When you add a Data Pack, the Data Pack is consumed first, before any other available monthly high-speed data allotments (such as any remaining monthly plan allowance and/or Rollover Data). Once you have consumed the Data Pack, you will resume consumption of such other available monthly high-speed data allotments. While unused data from your Data Pack does not roll over, any unused data from the monthly plan allowance will be rounded up to the nearest MB and carry over for one billing period. See att.com/rolloverdata for more details.

I really like this solution for our Corporate Responsibility User (CRU) lines of service. Are Data Packs also available to my organization’s AT&T Signature Discount Program customers and/or other consumers as well?

No. At this time, Data Packs are only available to business customers for their CRU lines of service.

Can I add a Data Pack for each CRU in my group?

No. Data Packs are added to the plan and therefore the high-speed data allotment provided by the Data Pack is shared by all CRU lines on the plan.

Do I pay a recurring monthly charge for a Data Pack?

No. Optional Data Packs are designed to provide you with an additional high-speed data amount for use in that particular month and, thus, you pay an additional one-time charge. If you have the need to buy one or more Data Packs every month, you should consider moving to one of the Mobile Share Advantage plans for business with a larger monthly data allowance instead.

What is meant by no overages?

On the AT&T Mobile Share AdvantageSM plans for business there are no overage charges. Once you have used all of your monthly high-speed data amounts, such as your plan data, any available Rollover Data® or other allotments you may have, all of your data usage for the remainder of your monthly bill cycle will be slowed down to a max of 128 Kbps which is approximately 2G speeds. While at reduced speeds, you will have basic data usage for light email and internet usage. Audio and video streaming, picture and video messaging, gaming, select apps and services, and other data usage, including sponsored data, will be affected and may not work.

If I’ve used all of my plan data and am now experiencing slow speeds, what should I do if I want more high speed data?

If you need faster speeds during this time you can change your rate plan or connect to Wi-Fi. Customers with a Mobile Share Advantage plan for business can also purchase a Data Pack to obtain an additional high-speed data amount for use in the month.

What is Stream Saver?

Stream Saver is included on select plans, including Mobile Share Advantage, Mobile Share Value, and Mobile Share. Stream Saver is designed to identify streaming video content so that data speed and resolution of higher definition video can be adjusted to Standard Definition quality (about 480p). This allows customers to stream more video while using the same amount of data. Stream Saver will not apply to content it cannot identify as video. Additionally, your ability to stream and the resolution of video can be affected by other factors. See att.com/streamsaver for more information.

Will Stream Saver affect my data usage when using my data internationally?

Yes, if your domestic plan includes Stream Saver, then when Stream Saver is turned on for your line and you are roaming internationally (with or without an international package or feature), it will apply to international video streaming as well. You can turn it off and back on any time online.

Are AT&T Next and Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) smartphone installment charges included in the prices for Mobile Share Advantage plans for business?

No. With AT&T Next® and EIP, you are purchasing a smartphone on an installment plan. Mobile Share Advantage plans for business do not include any device purchase costs. Plan pricing is for service only and includes a monthly plan charge and a per-device monthly access charge.

What is Rollover Data?

Rollover Data is a benefit of our Mobile Share Advantage plans for business in which unused data from your monthly plan allowance rolls over for one billing period.

Rollover Data is used only after the full data allowance for your Mobile Share Advantage plan or Mobile Share Advantage for Business plan in the current bill cycle is used. Once you exceed your plan’s current allotments, and any other available data allotments, you’ll automatically start using your available Rollover Data. There’s no cap on the amount of unused plan data within a given month that’s eligible for roll over. However, Rollover Data automatically expires after one billing period, and unused Rollover Data won’t carry over to the following month.

If all of the plan’s allowance and Rollover Data and any other available data allotments are used, you will not incur overage fees. However, after all data allotments are used, all your data usage is slowed to a max of 128kbps (2G speeds) for the rest of your monthly bill cycle. Your data usage will be impacted and may not work. See att.com/broadbandinfo for data speeds details.

Example: If you have our 10GB AT&T Mobile Share Advantage plan and only use 6GB, you’ll roll over 4GB (your Rollover Data balance) to the next month for a total of 14GB to be used within that next month. If you exceed 14GB during that month, your data usage will be slowed to a max of 128kbps for the rest of your monthly bill cycle.

What happens to my Rollover Data if I move to a new Mobile Share Advantage plan or Mobile Share Advantage for Business plan?

If you have a Rollover Data balance when you change your plan, you will lose that balance for the current billing cycle. However, you will start accruing new Rollover Data once you’ve switched, and any unused data from your new monthly plan allowance will carry over for one billing period.
